Carbohydrates, stored in cytosol as deposits of the polysaccharide glycogen.

Fats, stored, mostly by the fat cells (adipocytes), as free droplets in the cytosol.

Cellular Pigments

Body fat looks yellow if there are large amounts of carotene.

Red blood cells (erythrocytes) have the red iron-containing pigment haemoglobin.

Skin cells have the brown-black pigment melanin - protects against UV light.
